Most people are under the impression that you have to keep balances on credit cards at all times. That is a myth. You can pay your credit cards off and leave them at a balance if you like. You just need to make sure you use them at least once every 6 months. Use them for $20, wait until you get the bill then you can pay it off if you like. That will keep your credit score very high, as long as you do not have negative items bringing your score down.
If you pay your balances off in full every month you don’t accrue interest, but that does not mean you always have a zero balance that actually means you ALWAYS have a balance. You would need to pay it off and wait until the creditor updates to the bureaus then it takes about 3 weeks from that date for the bureaus to reflect your balance.
Remember: The higher your balance the lower your score…. The lower your balance the higher your score.
